Using Extra Security When You Sign (Two-Step Verification)
Some documents require more than just a click-to-sign. SELISE Signature supports Two-Step Verification (also known as two-factor authentication) to ensure that the right person is signing — especially for legally binding or high-trust workflows. Here’s how it works and what you need to do when signing with extra security.
What is Two-Step Verification?
Two-step verification (2SV) adds a second layer of security during signing. After entering your details and reviewing the document, you’ll be asked to verify your identity via SMS code or another secure method. This is required for:
- Advanced Signatures (linked to your identity)
- Qualified Signatures (legally binding under EU eIDAS regulation)
Why Use Two-Step Verification?
- Adds identity proof to your digital signature
- Reduces fraud or unauthorized signing
- Required for high-trust workflows (compliance, legal, HR, finance)
- Mandatory for Advanced and Qualified Signatures
Step 1: Open the Signing Invitation
Click the Show Document button in the email you received. The document will open in your browser.

Step 2: Review the Document and Click to Sign
Read the document thoroughly. Navigate to the required signature field and click it. Then click Next.

The signature will be placed into the field. Now click on Finish and confirm.

Step 3: Receive, Enter and Verify the SMS Code
You’ll receive a verification code (OTP) on your phone (SMS).
- Sent to the number provided during setup or registration
- Valid for a short period (usually between 1–10 minutes)

Enter the code in the prompt that appears and click Verify.

Tip:
Didn't get the code? Click Resend or check your phone number in your profile or with the document sender.
Note:
If you have opted for the confirmation method via an app (e.g. mobileID, IDNow, etc.) when authenticating for the qualified electronic signature, the signature will not be verified via SMS but via the selected app.
Step 4: Finish
After the click on Verify the document will be processed and the signed document appears on your screen.
On the info bar on the right, you´ll see the text You´ve signed the document and a green tick appears next to your name.
Once all recipients have signed the document, you’ll also receive an email notification that the document has been fully signed. This email contains the signed document and the audit log.
